If you saw my last post on the chenille yarn review, you’ll know where this is going. I wanted to share with you what I ended up making with this yarn! I made gifts for a special little girl turning 5 with a Unicorn Mermaid 🦄🧜♀️ theme for her birthday party!
Amigurumi Unicorn Mermaid Crochet Doll
The first item I made was an amigurumi unicorn mermaid. When I found this Crochet Unicorn-mermaid pattern link on Etsy, I knew nothing could be more perfect for the occasion!! Here’s how mine came out:

I’m super proud of it! It was the first project I’d ever done with chenille yarn, so it took some getting used to. The biggest pain points were light colors which made it hard to see the stitches, and the massive amount of hair on this baby:

When I say “massive,” I mean massive! I think I spent an entire night doing just her hair alone. I actually had plans to do more hair strands, but it got too late so I called it quits when I judged it to be enough. Here’s a side view as well:

The fact that you could style her hair in any way is so fun! Her hair naturally curls as well, so it was just a matter of chaining all that yarn.
Cute Crochet Wall Hangings
Ok, the next two items are wall hangings that I crocheted as well with the same of yarn. I thought these would make great decor in a little girl’s room! I got each of these wall hanging patterns off Etsy, one unicorn wall hanging and a mermaid crochet wall hanging. How do you think I did?

Mermaid Crochet Wall Hangings
Since I did the mermaid one first, let’s take a closer look at that one first:

“SUPER CUTE” doesn’t even begin to describe it! As eye-catching and unique as it is, it was just as much a labor of love. In particular, her hair! Similar to the unicorn mermaid amigurumi, her hair took FOREVER. I eventually got it done, albeit after a couple of late (and very late) nights. The last photo here is the back; I’m always curious as to what the back looks like on work like this, so I thought I’d post one in case anyone else had a similar question. I tried to keep it as neat as I could!
Crochet Gift: Unicorn Wall Hanging
And now, for the unicorn wall hanging, which was much easier:

The flower crown is my favorite part! It’s so cute. This project went way faster than the mermaid — only 3 days, if I recall correctly.
Lastly, I want to share with you how I made the rope to hang these from. I bought a long dowel from Michaels and my husband sawed it down to size for me. I then braided a bunch of the colors together. This is how it turned out:

I’ve already gifted the doll, but I needed more time with the wall hangings. Wish me luck! I hope she likes them!
Photos are good, but if you want to see these with a little more commentary, check out my Youtube video on the unicorn mermaids:
