I spent around $475 in the month of April alone on yarn, patterns, and tools

I spent nearly $500 on fiber craft last month… let’s dig in to my exciting purchases!!

This blog post is so long I will link to chapters. I am also embedding my Youtube video at the bottom of this post where there are way more visuals and also the mapping between which yarn I want to use for which pattern! Check it out!

Crochet and Knitting Patterns

Since the patterns was the thing that kicked off what ended up becoming this haul, I thought it would be fitting to show what patterns I bought first. I bought all but one of these from Etsy, and the remaining one I bought from Ravelry.

Crochet patterns

Aurora Top by SpiritAndThread from Etsy

I’m biased because the model is wearing this in yellow which definitely caught my eye. I don’t think I’ll make it in yellow as I’m wondering how it’d look in a multi-colored yarn (see some choices below!!), but I love the scallop detail too!

Rose Garden Jacket by TSCrochetDesign from Etsy

Ok, I don’t totally know how comfortable this will be to sit and lean back in, but I just love all the flowers! I’m wondering if I could tweak the pattern to be a vest, since want to use a pack of yarn I already have without wanting to buy more.

Knitting patterns

Spinnaker Headband by Emily Sheehan from Ravelry

Admittedly this is probably too wide for where I live for 364 days of the year, but I saw this on Instagram and fell in love! I want to see if I could maybe make this in half the thickness for a hair band?

Toledo Top by ThisCosyNest from Etsy

I thought this top was nice and light, and I don’t have anything like this in my closet:

Mama Knows Vest Cardivest and Happy Hygge Vest by BrendaMadeThis from Etsy

These are so cute I had to get 2! They are made with chunky yarn and supposedly they “knit up fast.” Challenge accepted.. I find I always take 1.5-2x the estimated length of time!

Sweater Shirt Knitting Pattern by DarlingJadore from Etsy

I’ve actaully knit a t-shirt once before, as you might have seen here from a previous post where I blocked my knit tiger tee. I wanted to see how other knit tees are constructed so I bought another tee shirt pattern.

Poet Ruffle Blouse by FabelVintage from Etsy

No notes here.. other than this was pretty so I purchased it!

Yarn

I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that a knitting and crochet hobby also means a pattern collection and yarn collection hobby 😅 soooo bring in the yarn!

Woolly Mama Yarns

Hailing from the UK, Woolly Mama Yarns delivered very quickly (considering where it was being sent from, to California) and is fueling my obsession for brightly colored and rainbow colored yarn.

Gelato

Dream a Little Dream

Candy Floss

Arcane Fiber Works

I Don’t Believe in Humans

MillaMia

Naturally Soft Super Chunky in Cinnamon, Denim, Sunshine

Tools

One of the patterns I wanted to make first required jumbo knitting needles which I did not have already. Here are the 3 circular knitting needles I purchased last month:

1. Clover Takumi® 36″ Bamboo Circular Knitting Needles , bamboo, from Michaels

2. Susan Bates 16129-15 29-Inch Velocity Circular Knitting Needle, 10mm , nickel plated brass, from Amazon

3. Size 15 Circular Knitting Needles for Blankets Set Round Metal Circle 36 Inch , stainless steel, Amazon

Final thoughts

To say I’m overwhelmed would be an understatement 😅 I have a very busy next few months, I think.. what are your favorite items out of the above??
